Our Story:
Venkovská romance – Brought Back to Life by Heart and Hands
It was the year 2018 when my partner and I first stood before an old country house in Velká Roudka, a small village near Velké Opatovice. Time had stood still there – cracked walls, shattered windows and doors, and grass growing through the stone doorstep told a story of former glory and years of neglect. And yet… in that very moment, we felt a certain kind of magic.
From Ruins to a Calling
That day, we found more than just a house; we found a calling. In Velká Roudka stood a 19th-century farmhouse – a blend of stone, wood, and history, quietly waiting for a second chance. A place many saw as nothing more than a ruin became, for us, a dream.
From the very first glance, we could see what it might one day become. The vision was immediate and clear, and it etched itself deep into our hearts. We saw the incredible potential of its foundations, its spirit, and the life waiting to be lived again within its walls. And so, our Venkovská romance (A Countryside Romance) began.
Vision, Dedication, and Love
Our journey of transformation began slowly. Because we live in Opava, the house became our weekend and holiday retreat. The farmhouse turned into our second shift – the greatest project of passion and creative effort in our lives.
Every brick, every beam, and every drop of sweat, poured out over hundreds of miles of commuting, was a step toward a new beginning. We carried out the renovation with our own hands, with deep respect for the building’s original character. We preserved the authentic stone walls and sought to awaken the spirit of a place that deserved more than to be forgotten. It was demanding, sometimes exhausting, but always filled with love – for this unique corner of the world and for each other.
The Rebirth of a Home
Today, a new story is unfolding before our eyes. The farmhouse, once silent for decades, is becoming a home full of peace and life once again. Where a neglected facade once stood, a renewed stone surface now shines. Our enclosed courtyard, scented with roses and lavender, has become a quiet heart beyond the reach of the outside world – a place where one can truly rest.
Every corner bears our mark, our work, and our joy. And we believe that you, too, when you step inside, will feel that special atmosphere – a blend of history, honest craftsmanship, and love that can awaken even what once seemed forever lost.
